I can imagine this replacing rentable bikes in NYC (probably 12 years from now ). But this would be difficult to maintain as a result of the population in New York and the abuse the vehicle would experience. This would be more practical in areas outside of the city, especially near train stations for commuters or tourists.
Innovation by illinois that would enable electric cars to be much more practical. If applied to electric cars they'd be able to travel much farther without being charged. And you'd be able to charge your car in only a few seconds.
